Welcome to the new web pages of the EPW Research Foundation.

The site has:
  • Many new interactive features
  • A vastly enhanced search facility
  • A much larger archive
  • Improved design for better access and reading.
It is also now possible to subscribe to our publications on-line using a secure payment gateway, making subscription a much simpler process.

Access to the site is described below and each feature of the site is explained. A more detailed explanation can be had by moving the cursor over the title of each feature/category.

General Access : EPW Research Foundation is committed to providing visitors free access to most sections of its web site, but registration is mandatory for purchase of Books/CD's through online payment gateway or to access a few paid sections on our web site.


Why to register?

Registered users can get free access to Daily updates and other services like Financial Market Highlights and Economic Review Highlights.

*Individual students and research scholars in Indian universities and colleges are eligible for a discount of 25% on producing brief evidence of eligibility from the concerned institution.

-Individual subscribers can access the site by a user name and a password, while institutional subscribers get access by specifying IP ranges.
Search:  The new Search facility is based on a comprehensive list of keywords and searches the title, author(s) and abstract.
  • All users can also use an Advanced Search facility.
  • All users can read the abstracts of the relevant results.
  • Subscribers can read/download full article which are accessed.
Payment Gateway:  Visitors now have a simple and safe way to subscribe to the print/web editions of Publications. They can use the secure payment gateway system to pay by credit/debit card or from (selected) bank accounts. The payment gateway is run by CC Avenue and offers secure facilities to make credit card payments. CC Avenue's payment gateway services are used by scores of India's leading companies and retailers.
  • The payment gateway is the last stage of the subscription process (approached from "Not yet registered? Register here" or "Order for Publications").
  • There are two gateways: one for subscribers based in India and the other for those outside India. These will be automatically configured after the subscriber fills in the subscription form.
  • Those wishing to subscribe by payment through cheques/demand drafts can continue to do so.

    Highlights of developments in Indian Macro-economy and Financial Markets

    1.     Financial Markets Review:
    The Financial Markets Review is a comprehensive coverage of enormous developments that take place in the financial markets on a monthly basis. It encompasses a detailed analysis of high frequency data and trends observed across all sub-segments, viz., money market, forex market, government securities market, corporate bond market and commodity derivatives market. Besides, it also attempts to present the implications of policy initiatives undertaken in the backdrop of real sectors’ developments.
    2.    Money Market Review (Monthly):
    This review is done with detailed analysis of the high frequency data on the Indian money, foreign exchange and government securities markets; this review is written along with critical commentaries on the backdrop developments in the real, fiscal and financial sectors generally and money and banking trends in particular; it is being published in the EPW once every month. For wider dissemination, it is also being uploaded on this web site. The scope of this review has been expanded to cover systematic data on major commercial bond issues and their characteristics.

    1.     Monthly Economic Review:
    The objective of this Monthly Economic Review is to monitor India’s economic progress regularly and systematically; it tracks not only the ongoing economic and social developments but also the policy contours which are designed to facilitate the growth process. Month after month, it reviews the evolving trends in about 14 macro-economic sectors – growth, inflation, money-banking, fiscal developments, capital market and external sector - with a brief attempt to present total and sectoral GDP growth projections for the year under review and an overall assessment of the growth scenario.

    2.     Theme Papers:
    A chosen theme from out of current economic and financial developments thoroughly reviewed and analyzed.

    3.    Macro Economic Indicators:

  • Database Studies: 
    The Foundation has already published, through the columns of the Economic and Political Weekly (EPW), 41 sets of Special Statistics (some subjects updated and repeated), presenting long 45-50 year time series along with a description of the conceptual and methodological issues and the quality of available statistics for the specific sectors so that the users get both the original data and an insight into their strengths and weakness.
